Depth changes intensity

The same light is stronger at the top of a shallow aquarium than at the substrate of a deep tank. Distance from the light matters as much as the percentage setting.

Watch plants and algae together

Too much light can produce algae on slow-growing leaves even while fast-growing plants look fine. A balance problem may therefore appear first on Anubias, ferns or hardscape.
