Combined planning tool

Aquarium setup planner

Use one set of measurements to calculate water volume, a chosen water-change amount, an arithmetic filter-flow target, water mass and a simple electricity-cost scenario.

Planning summary

This combines arithmetic already used by the individual tools; it does not introduce hidden husbandry recommendations. The water-change percentage, turnover target, displacement and heater duty cycle are all choices you can change.

What this planner is good for

  • Keeping one consistent water-volume basis across several calculations.
  • Comparing what changes when the waterline or displacement estimate changes.
  • Turning a chosen maintenance percentage into actual litres.
  • Converting a chosen filter-turnover target into L/h.
  • Seeing how heater duty cycle and lighting hours affect an electricity scenario.

The result is a planning sheet, not a complete fishkeeping prescription. Species compatibility, cycling, water quality, structural floor safety and manufacturer instructions still need their own checks.

Why the assumptions are visible

Many weak calculators hide assumptions in the code, which makes the output look more certain than it is. This planner does the opposite. If you assume 10% displacement, 25% water changes, 4× turnover and a 35% heater duty cycle, those assumptions remain visible beside the result and can be changed.

That is useful when comparing scenarios. A heavily scaped tank may contain less water than a bare-bottom tank. A colder room may make the heater run more often. A different species mix may need a different flow pattern. The tool performs the maths; you remain responsible for choosing the inputs.
